(Last Two) Week(s) in Review - December 6-17

Math - BamBam is continuing to excel in subtraction. He's worked steadily and diligently these past two weeks. The PrimPress had started addition. She loves that she finally gets to utilize the Math-U-See blocks. In the past two weeks she has grasped place value, as well, thanks to Decimal Street.

Language Arts - BamBam is getting very close to finishing up The Ordinary Parents Guide to Teaching Reading. The Primpress is trucking right along with her long vowels. Writing, spelling, and grammar are going well. We've taken the week off from memory work.

Science - I checked out a TON of astronomy-related books and videos at the library. The children have been reading through the books as their interest strikes (usually a book per day). They've also watched one video, The Magic School Bus Space Adventures.

Other - Home Ec. We made cookies! I swore I was not going to kill myself making cookies this year. And thanks to Clover Lane, I kept my promise to myself while still allowing the kids to have a great time. We made these easy sugar cookie knock-offs, and the kids had a blast decorating and eating them. Even little BabyBear got in on the action.

Other News BamBam turned a big SEVEN on the 17th. Daddy Jayhawk turned 36 on the 16th. We've been busy finishing up Christmas shopping. I've sewn another dress for the Primpress and have a few projects that need to get finished by Christmas Eve. Lots of stuff to blog about. This is my reminder to myself to get some of this stuff documented.
