Week in Review: Dec. 5 - 9, 2011

Math BamBam aced his MUS test on Ch. 13 this week. He started Ch. 14 Measurement. He's having fun running around the house with the ruler. Primpress also aced her MUS test on Ch. 13 Alpha. Both of the children are enjoying Math Mammoth. They are working on order of operation. They learned the rule of the parentheses. 

Language Arts Both BamBam and Primpress worked on fables this week in WWE. BamBam worked in-depth on pronouns in Rod & Staff. He'll be finishing up the unit this coming week. Primpress has begun the introduction to pronouns in First Language Lessons. Both of the children did well with their spelling this week. Primpress completed three more reading lessons in her OPG.

History This week we learned about the Mycaneans and the invading barbarians and Dorians in Greece. The kids had fun learning about the difference between the two groups. They announced to Dad that they were, in fact, Mycaneans because they go to school and live in a house... haha! They also colored Greecian urns. They were excited to realize that they had seen a real Greek urn at the museum. Predictably, BamBam colored a Jayhawk on his urn. Primpress went with a traditional race scene. We read Atlantis: The Lost City (from last week's reading), How Would You Survive as an Ancient Greek? and You Wouldn't Want to be a Slave in Ancient Greece. We also have some other books in the house that go along with the lesson this week, but we've just been perusing those.

Other We covered the prophet Elisha this week in our Bible study. We also worked on our Christmas carols for the children's Christmas play at church. BamBam will be playing the part of Gabriel. Primpress is also an angel. BabyBear has elected to sit out this year. Unfortunately, he's still not recovered from his ear infection. Baby Seamus sleeps nicely through church. (I'll have to get a picture of him soon - you know, when I'm not getting him out of no-nos.)

Other important stuff We made chocolate covered peanut butter balls. And then we ate them. All. I love Christmas.
